Empower Team in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya

Empower President Dr. Carrie Miles, and Empower Missionary Donell Peck are in Uganda right now, at about the halfway point in trip that will include seven events in three countries. Please pray for their continued endurance and strength as they travel.

After visiting with an Anglican bishop in Rwanda who has expressed an interest in having us come to teach, they traveled on to Uganda.

Our team is currently in Uganda and will head to Kenya soon.

There, they conducted a full New Man, New Woman, New Life seminar for the bishop and senior pastors and staff of the Kigezi Diocese, in Kabale, Uganda. They then went on to Kisoro, Uganda, about 30 miles away, where they spoke, then conducted a Master class for Muhabura Diocese earlier this week.

They will soon travel to Kenya, where they will teach another Master Class at St. Paul’s University.

But before that, starting tomorrow, they will meet with the Empower Chapter in Kampala, Uganda for two days. That chapter has played a key role spreading our message and supporting local churches. However, that team suffered an unexpected tragedy late last year when their chapter president, Margaret Kiswiriri, suffered a stroke and passed away. (Read more here).

The chapter has elected a new president, Joyce Ouko. The entire Empower/Uganda board will meet with Carrie and Donell March 10-12.

From Uganda, they will travel on to Kenya, where God continues to open doors and go before us. The Kenyans are eager to hear our message of equality and mutuality. And they are equally eager to apply it to their lives.

In fact, this week, we got an email from Charles Thuku Nganga, who attended a New Man, New Woman, New Life seminar in Utawala, Kenya with his wife. It changed their marriage in a profound way. He wrote:

“It has been an eye opener into renewed family relationship with equality and mutual respect and understanding. The encounters and the exposition influenced me to renewing my marriage vows with my wife in church. Initially,  our marriage was based on customary and civil law. We had our marriage blessed at St. Monica Church Utawala, under Rev. Captain Jackmorris Wachira… God bless the Empower team.”

Feedback like this makes us so thankful for the opportunities we continue to receive. Your generosity makes it possible for us to go and bring this life-giving message to others. Thank you!

Our team will return to St. Paul’s University in Limuru, Kenya, where they have taught before, to conduct a Master Class. A Master Class is our “train the trainer” teaching, where participants who have been through New Man, New Woman, New Life before return to learn how to teach it themselves, enabling our message to spread organically.

After that, Carrie will speak at Kenyatta University in Nairobi, Kenya, before returning to the states.

Please continue to pray for us, specifically:

  • safe travel for Carrie and Donell
  • continued physical strength and good health
  • open hearts to hear the message of equality
  • changed lives as a result of the teaching
