Training breaks cultural barriers in Malawi A report from Arnold Phiri

Our ministry in Malawi is thriving, despite the restrictions of the pandemic. This is of course thanks to the tireless efforts of Pastor Arnold Phiri, a pastor from Blantyre in southern Malawi, and Empower’s Coordinator for Malawi. Here is his latest report. (Edited for space and clarity.)

Pastor Arnold Phiri
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We thank God that He is still keeping and protecting us all.
God has been so good to us! Seeing what God is doing among His people is really a blessing as people have been practicing the many things they were just learning. Many cultural barriers have been broken because many women and men have been applying the materials from our training.

The Moslem village chief has learnt from the material and now he is able to help his wife. He now knows that even his wife was made in God’s image.
Most people who were in African Tradition religion, which believes that women are cursed, have to come to the conclusion that what they have been teaching is false. They’ve confessed their mistakes and pledged to start doing things on God’s way, as their eyes have been opened.
In the coming weeks, I will be traveling to Mzuzu, as there is a good progress there. I will meet with our leaders there, although not in a big group, as we have to implement Covid safety measures.
Pastors have been busy teaching in their different churches. We always encourage them to go to the grassroots, because that is where a lot of things are happening and a lot have not been taught.
Lastly, I would like to thank you for all the prayers and support.
Be blessed,
—Arnold
