Radio program is changing lives in Uganda

It’s not every day that we’re able to witness firsthand the restoration of a marriage—but it is happening more and more, thanks to Empower’s new radio program in Uganda. The program was started when our ability to meet in person was restricted by the pandemic, but it has become a powerful avenue for ministry. Here’s the latest report from Africa Program Director Frank Tweheyo.

We continue to experience breakthrough in the radio program. People I never thought could tune in, from leading businessmen and women in Kabale and beyond, to the clergy from Anglican church, and many others. People are continually telling us the program is blessing them.

One Anglican Clergy from West Ankole Diocese, who has a Masters Degree in Divinity, told me last Monday that during all the time he has spent studying and in ministry, he had never come across the kind of Bible exposition that he hears in our program. He said he uses our outlines and explanations in his sermons and other ministerial engagements. He is not the only one.

Frank on the air in Uganda!

One of the most touching testimonies is that of Adrin. She is a married woman with two kids. She separated from her husband almost two years ago, moving back to her parents’ home.  Recently however, she tuned into the program and heard us talking about the power of redemption, and how Jesus can help restore broken relationships.

She called me and gave her life to the Lord! Then she requested that we pray together for the restoration of her marriage.

The very same day, her husband (who had not contacted her ever since they separated) called her and asked for forgiveness. He also proposed that they come together again.

Adrin forgave him. The husband left Kampala and Adrin left her patents’ home and they are back together in their marital home.

She called me again so excited because we had prayed (on the phone) about that and God did it almost immediately.

Adrin’s story is not the only one, but it highlights how the program is impacting the society positively. We may never know the full impact because others may not be able to get in touch with us. But we know the radio program is benefiting society here in Uganda tremendously.

Adrin lives more than 50 km from Kabale, so I have not met her in person. But thanks to the power of radio, and the power of the truth, her life was changed, and now her story is inspiring others.

We could not continue the radio program without your faithful support. Thank you for helping people like Adrin and her husband to find healing and hope for a brighter future!

Stay blessed in Jesus name.
